Seven Great Bells
Location: Blackwharf (DESTROYED)
Overview
The Seven Great Bells of Blackwharf were a magnificent defensive system created by The Dwarves to protect the city against entropy and the forces of The Entropy Shepherd. These massive bells maintained a magical sonic bubble around the city through continuous ringing.
The Bell Configuration
- Three Large Bells - Major defensive installations
- One Master Bell - The central and most important bell (see The Master Bell)
- Three Normal Bells - Standard defensive bells
- Total: Seven bells working in harmony to maintain the sonic defense
The Sonic Defense System
Magical Protection
The bells created a "magical sonic bubble" that protected Blackwharf against entropy and the Shepherd's forces. The system required:
- 24-hour continuous ringing schedule - Maintained since The Entropy Shepherd's emergence
- Coordinated timing - All seven bells working in harmony
- Dwarven engineering - Created by master craftsmen as a technical marvel
Operating Schedule
Since the emergence of The Entropy Shepherd, the bells operated on a continuous rotation to maintain constant protection. The loss of even a few bells compromised the entire system's effectiveness.
The Fall of the Bells (Session 1)
Systematic Destruction
During the Fall of Blackwharf, The Ash Dancer systematically destroyed the bell towers:
- Second and third bells stopped ringing first, breaking the initial defense
- Multiple towers destroyed during the siege
- Master Bell Tower - Completely destroyed by The Ash Dancer
- Rose Gate - Breached after bell defenses failed
End of the Defense
With the destruction of multiple bell towers, the sonic defense system collapsed, leaving the city vulnerable to:
- The Stillness Choir - Who could now use Amber Preservation on citizens without interference
- The Ember Thieves - Free to steal warmth and create chaos
- The Ash Dancer - Able to complete the destruction of the city
Historical Significance
The Seven Great Bells represented one of the last organized defenses against the entropy crisis. Their destruction marked a major victory for The Entropy Shepherd and the completion of his master plan to "Destroy the City of Bells."
The loss of this dwarven-engineered marvel demonstrates that even the most sophisticated magical defenses cannot indefinitely hold back the forces of entropy and preservation that the Shepherd commands.
